Directory Web Sites
The following two websites are examples of directory sites (otherwise known as database driven sites). These websites, Hudson's Historic Houses and Chipping-Campden.net contain a large amount of data in the form of links to other sites, information and listings. Both sites were developed using Perl/CGI.
About these two examples
The website for www.hudsonsguide.co.uk supports the annual printed directory which publishes the opening times,
admission prices and details of the majority of the historic houses
and gardens open to the public in the UK.
www.chipping-campden.net was developed to help visitors, business owners and residents of Chipping
Campden in Gloucestershire. It provides details of what to do, where
to stay and a listing of local businesses. The site is powered by an
off-the-shelf database which was customised to integrate with the site
design.
